Dr. Levine received a B.A. in American
History from Columbia College and an M.D. degree from the New York
University School of Medicine.
After completing his internship at Mt.
Sinai Hospital in New York, he served as Resident and Chief Resident
in Ophthalmology at the NYU-Bellevue Hospital Medical Center, followed
by a Heed Fellowship at the Doheny Eye Foundation in Los Angeles.
In 1993, the NYU School of Medicine
honored Dr. Levine as a distinguished alumnus.
Robert E. Levine, M.D., a
board-certified ophthalmologist, is a Fellow of the American Academy
of Ophthalmology, and a Charter Fellow of the American Society of
Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is nationally and
internationally known and recognized for his contributions to the
field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Dr.
Levine has pioneered eyelid reanimation and repositioning techniques
for patients with facial paralysis an has written numerous textbook
chapters and medical journal articles on that special area of
interest.
During his many years in private
practice, Dr. Levine has performed literally thousands of ophthalmic
plastic and reconstructive surgeries.
Dr. Levine is currently a Clinical
Professor of Ophthalmology at LA County - USC Medical Center, where he
taught physicians to perform delicate eye surgeries. Dr. Levine also
has been a course instructor at the annual meetings of both the
American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck,
demonstrating ophthalmic plastic surgery techniques to other eye, ear,
head and neck specialists.
In addition, Dr.Levine has served as
Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department at St. Vincent Hospital and
has been the Ophthalmology Consultant to the House Ear Clinic for more
than a quarter of a century. He is Co-Founder an Co-Director of the
Facial Nerve Disorders Center at the House Ear Clinic.
